What should new patients bring to their first appointment?
We want the first visit to be as smooth as possible. The following items would be necessary:
- Insurance card
- Valid ID or driver’s license
- A list of your current medications, or the actual medications you are taking
- Referral from your primary care provider (if required by your insurance)
- Any relevant previous lab results, imaging reports, or clinical notes from other physicians, especially endocrinologists or primary care providers
- Completed intake forms (we are working on making these available online for printing and pre-filling before your visit)
- A credit card for your copay or self-pay fee (for patients without insurance or if we are not in-network with your insurance provider)
Note: We would be exploring a concierge medicine model in the future where patients can opt to pay directly for services without involving insurance but we will still continue to see everyone if they can not afford concierge medicine
How long is a typical initial consultation?
Initial consultations typically last between 40 minutes to one hour. However, I often spend more time with new patients to fully understand their concerns. My goal is to treat every patient with the same care and attention I would want for myself—this means listening deeply, understanding holistically, and not rushing through any part of the visit.
What can patients expect during their first visit?
You can expect a thorough and compassionate evaluation. I strive to create a respectful environment where patients feel heard. I practice evidence-based medicine and offer my honest, personalized recommendations. After your consultation, additional testing such as blood, urine, saliva, or imaging (CT, MRI, ultrasound, DEXA scans, etc.) may be recommended as needed.
Do you require any prep work (fasting, stopping medications, etc.) before first visits?
Not at this time. While we plan to begin in-office lab testing in the future, we currently refer patients to external labs like LabCorp or Quest Diagnostics for blood work. We provide detailed instructions if any specific preparation is needed before your lab visit.
What forms do patients need to complete? Can they do this online in advance?
Currently, patients complete intake forms upon arrival at the clinic. I would like a process of making these forms downloadable from our website so they can fill them out in advance to save time.
How do you handle prescription refills and lab result reviews?
This varies by patient and condition. Prescription refills can be monthly or every 90 days, depending on the type of medication and insurance approval. For medications like GLP-1 receptor agonists (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, Trulicity), adjustments and close monitoring may be necessary.
What’s your policy on urgent questions between appointments?
We aim to respond to patient messages as promptly as possible. Most inquiries are answered within 24 hours, and no later than 2 business days.
